Child Training(Part 3)

By Jeff Klick

What is one of the most important points to remember about child training? God expects the parents to train the children because He won't do it! God will not train your children for you. He wants, and commands the parents to train their own children. Deut. 6:4-9 "Hear 0 Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress (train, ingrain, make an impact on. etc) them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates."God delegated to the parents the responsibility to pass on to the children the commandments and teachings that He had given to the parents. God would never again make tablets of stone. It became the parents responsibility to impress the Lord's ways on their children. We have the responsibility, and the authority, to make sure this happens. As far as I know there are only two verses in the Bible that speak directly to children and both same the same thing - "Children obey your parents."(Eph. 6: 1, Col. 3:20) God expects us as parents to train our children to listen to us, and to obey us. This does not just happen by chance, but through systemic training and hard work! We are also praying about offering a class this fall again on the subject if there is any interest. Keep up the good work parents, and don't grow weary!!!
