Love Not the World

There is a theme throughout Scripture for the people of God. Read the following verses and let them minister to your spirit.
Leviticus 10:10 - "You must distinguish between the holy and the common, between the unclean and the clean..."
Deuteronomy 18:9 - "When you enter the land the Lord your God is giving you, do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there."
Ezekiel 22:26 - "Her priests do violence to my law and profane my holy things; they do not distinguish between the holy and the common; they teach that there is no difference between the unclean and the clean..."
Ezekiel 44:23 - "The priests are to teach my people the difference between the holy and the common and show them how to distinguish between the unclean and clean."
2 Corinthians 6:14 - "Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?"
2 Corinthians 6:17 - "Therefore come out from them and be separate, says the Lord."
James 4:4 - You adulterous people, don't you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God."
1 John 2:15-17 - "Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For everything in the world - the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes, and the boasting of what he has and does - come not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever."
3 John 1:11 - "Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil but what is good."
This is a sampling of the Scriptures that talk to the people of God about our lifestyles. We are to be a people who are of another world. There should be a vast difference between us and the unbelievers. We are called to be different, sanctified, holy. Sanctified means to be "set apart." We are to be dedicated to God. A holy, redeemed race of people.
When we set our eyes on the world as our standard, we are deceived. The world's standard shifts with each generation. Our standard has to be the Scripture. Our standard has to be as high as God requires. We are to be a separate people. If we look, act, sound, dress, and respond just like the world, we are not obeying God! Our lives should be a testimony of our God. People should be able to look at us, our families, our attitudes and see that we are different. May God give us the grace to never just "fit in." May we always stand out and be different.
My job is much the same as the priests in the Old Testament. I'm to teach you that there is a difference between the common and the holy. We are not to "intermingle" with the world. We are in the world, but not of the world. We must shine as lights in the world, not hiding ourselves from it, but we are not to take on the lifestyle of the world. Our life, and the life of our family, should be a testimony to the glory of God. Praise God -we are to be different!!!!!
Each person is a unique expression of God's love. Since we are all very different, we will put these verses into practice in different ways. The key is ask the Father to reveal any love for the world that is still in your heart. Ask Him to purge it out of you for His glory.
