Reading Books

By Jeff Klick

Want to spend some quality time together? Read books out loud as a family. Books are what they had before they had TV and computers! Allegories, history, biographies of famous people, fiction, and drama, or just about any other type of literature, is great for a family evening (or morning) together. In some cultures, parents chew their favorite foods to a mushy pulp and then place that food on a baby's tongue. Why, just to be gross? No, to help that child develop a taste for the food the parents really love. What is touching our children's "tongue?" What we "feed" them when they are young, they will want more of when they are older. Make sure we are giving them a "taste" for good things, not the things of this world. See Proverbs 22:6.
